CNN —A 10-month-girl police said was abducted from a New Mexico park Friday after the death of her mother and another woman has been found and a suspect is in custody, the FBI announced Monday morning. The bureau did not provide further details on Eleia Maria Torres’ condition and the suspect was not immediately named. The women, both 23, were found with “apparent gunshot wounds” on the ground near a minivan, the police statement said. At the scene, officers also discovered “an infant car seat, an infant stroller and a small baby bottle at the scene,” and began searching for a young child, police said. “Through interviews with family members, investigators learned Samantha Cisneros was the mother to the young female child found at the scene and was also the mother to a 10-month-old child, Eleia Maria Torres,” the news release said.

Washington, DC CNN —Finding a new apartment to rent can be a slog. In New York City, the rental vacancy rate, which is the share of habitable unoccupied units, has dropped to a record low 1.4%. In Boston, the rental vacancy rate was a very tight 2.6% at the end of last year, according to the Census Bureau. However, the most recent vacancy rate is also lower than the more typical 3.6% from prior to the pandemic. In the fourth quarter of 2023, the rental vacancy rate was 6.6%.

Since 1949, all female recruits have gone through boot camp at the South Carolina base; the 4th Battalion was created in 1986 as the women's unit. Inside the pool, men and women struggle side by side, jumping off a platform and swimming to the other end. Some measure of all-male companies would be necessary no matter what because there just are not enough female recruits to go around. The split, she said, divided them into “male Marines” and “female Marines,” and that shaped the men’s view of the women and made it more difficult for them to work together as they moved along. Young female recruits, who usually come from high schools where there is little separation, acknowledge the differences but voice no complaints.

About $800 billion may be wiped off the value of offices in major cities this decade, per McKinsey. Converting New York offices into residences is possible but has its challenges, Bloomberg reported. Buildings in the financial district are only eligible if they were built before 1977, while it's 1961 for Midtown structures, Chilelli told Bloomberg. Structural issues must also be considered, Chilelli told Bloomberg. Repurposing a structure can as much as double the price per square foot for a building, Chilelli said.

But the entry of Mr. Ruffalo and a number of celebrities — the actor Wendell Pierce, the comedian Amy Schumer, the rapper Common and more — into the fight over the church, more than two decades after it first began, has added an unusual twist to a common city conflict. Mr. Ruffalo even cornered Mayor Eric Adams at the Tribeca Film Festival this month to plead his case. All sides agree about the storied history of the church and its architectural significance. But around the same time, the church became a flashpoint in the city’s real estate battles. As early as the 1980s, West Park fought against preservationist regulations that would limit how it could use its property, arguing that it should be excluded from a historic district in the neighborhood.
